What is your first thought after your engine quits abruptly without any apparent cause? Besides the obvious words that come to mind, an abrupt stopping of the engine is most likely the failure of the electrical connection to the ignition system.

How nice it would be to discuss all the various aspects of you classic cars components in one neat short article. After a short read, we could understand everything and make all necessary repairs that need to be done. The fact of the matter is, by the time the Classic Era came along, automobiles made a significant advancement in design and engineering. All in just a short 30 years. In these articles, I will discuss all the various systems and aspects of your classic car. Well, it may take a couple of years of publication to cover it all, so keep checking back.

In covering all the different aspects of your car, I invite your input and comments. I will try and include them all in the next article in the series. I will cover some technical tips, some theory and background, and some remedies and cures we have used in our restoration shop over the past 30 years. I will help you achieve an understanding as to why things happen (good and bad), and some simple things you can do to keep your classic running like new. We will also discuss many of the practices we have used in restoring cars over the years.
